5 Must-Ride Roads in Door County
Door County offers 300 miles of coastline and 66 miles of rustic road along the Door County Coastal Byway. Rider Magazine has called the tour through the county “reminiscent of Maine and Cape Cod,” but we think you’ll find it to be a landscape unlike any other you've seen.
1. Bayshore Drive, County B
Make your way north from Sturgeon Bay along the shore, passing the bluffs of the Niagara Escarpment on one side and the glistening waters of Green Bay on the other.
2. County U
Wind through rural Southern Door County and the quaint communities of Clay Banks and Forestville as the road opens up on the blue waters of Lake Michigan, with little traffic in the rustic, tree-lined landscape along the way.
3. County Q
Glide through the famous ridges and swales near Baileys Harbor on your way to Cana Island Lighthouse.
4. Hwy. 42 to Northport
Wind your way up the peninsula's most famous highway, then take spurs like Garrett Bay Road to stay near the shoreline and under the trees before hitting the looping curves of the famous curvy road near the northern tip of the Door Peninsula
5. Washington Island
Explore 100 miles of road on this sparsely populated island. Stop by restaurants, coffee shops, and historic sites after you hop the ferry across Death’s Door. Don't worry—the ferry is motorcycle and large-gear friendly.
