TALKS –?

Uncover the rocky foundation of Door County with Brian Forrest of the Door County Land Trust?in this engaging Geology 101?program focused on learning to recognize and understand rocks.

Brian will introduce participants to the basic types of rocks and explain how they form, what clues they hold about ancient environments, and why Door County’s geology is so unique. Learn how limestone, dolomite, and glacial deposits shape the peninsula’s landforms, influence soils and plant communities, and even affect how water moves through the landscape.

This approachable, hands?on introduction to geology will help you see familiar shorelines, bluffs, and trails in a whole new way. Whether you’re a curious beginner or someone who’s always wondered what’s “beneath your boots,” this program offers a solid foundation for understanding the natural history written in stone across Door County. Join us to build your rock knowledge from the ground up and gain a deeper appreciation for the geological forces that shaped the place we call home.
